Mark and I were lucky enough to visit Spirithaven over St. Patty's day and hear the Cethix play. While we were there, I mentioned to Sheque that I would be glad to announce the beginning of the swap since it seemed to get lost in the shuffle last year. Don't know if I'll actually have anything to swap, but I'll remind everyone about it so we can all clean out our bellydance closet and possibly find some new treasures.

Re: Dance Swap
Wed, April 4, 2007 - 7:40 PMYay!
awesome, I think a lot of people wanted to swap last year, but no one actually initiated it, so it sort of got skipped last year.
For those of you who are new............make sure to bring something to DID to swap this year! It's the Darbukastani Flea Market: The key is to swap, not to gain profit, although small scale sales are allowed. Costume pieces that don't fit anymore, fabric you don't know what to do with, jewelry you never wear, extra coins, extra henna, you name it. Bring it on. Hell, I traded a bottle of cold beer for a choli once! *winks at Crystal* Oh yes, it's possible. This goes for all you musicians and firemakers out there too. Bring your props, your poi, your drums, your sheet music. If you don't have anything technically dance or music related, get creative. Chocolate chip cookie for a pack of bindis? Trade information for something material (I'll help you with your paradiddles if you trade me that bracelet? Private sword balancing lesson by the lake if you give me that banjara choli?)
Or just come and hang out, it's a great relaxing time to visit and meet new people. So YES, let's swap this year!!!

Re: Dance Swap
Sat, May 26, 2007 - 2:07 PMOK, bumping this topic up so we'll be ready to swap! I'll do *something* to announce it around 10 AM on Friday AM (which was the time it was last year-- didn't see it specifically listed on the new schedule). I'll have to check w/ Sheque once we get there about where to hold the swap & if it's at the same time. We could always ask to hold it during "Lunch and free time" at around 12:15 so we don't miss any workshops, if that's cool w/ Sheque and everyone else.
Jessica's previous post gives all the important details-- just bring your bellydance gear that needs a new home and have fun looking for new treasures!! :) -

Re: Dance Swap
Tue, May 29, 2007 - 7:40 PMSheque says that it's find if we hold the swap in the common area o Friday during the break/ lunch. I found quite a few things to swap, and Sheque says it's OK if I accept small donations to the Bellies for Breasts Team that performend before the Y-ME walk to Empower in DC. That way I could make a few dollars for the cause ... unless I see something that I *have* to trade for.
It's going to be fun!
