Just a reminder. It is very important to register as soon as possible! Slots fill quick and your registration goes along way in helping Sheque and Company in getting ready for the event. This year looks to be better than ever with alot of folks being there that haven't been in the past few years and some new folks as well. Can't wait to see everyone again and hope that all is well with everyone out there!
    Sincerly.
    Chris

Unfortunately I can not attend this year since I am short money for going back to school and not able to get time off work. It's devastating and demoralizing because I was looking forward to it all year. I'm sure gonna miss everyone.

Well, I'm afraid I will not see any of you, either. The logistics are just impossible for me.

It really distresses me but I think I will just have to give up my Darbukistan passport and sign off this tribe so it doesn't bum me out any further.

Perhaps I will see you at Pennsic. Or perhaps next year....

        Au revoir,
        Rutger

I need to let folks know that I am probably not going to be teaching this year. I just accepted a new fulltime gig at Port Discovery, the Children's Museum of Baltimore. This is a very unique opportunity for me. I will be designing and implementing special arts integrated programs a managing a black box theater, complete with TV and radio production capabilities.

To say I'm psych'd is an understatement. With me starting grad school in the fall, this gig offers the perfect setting to develop and assess material, that I will be a part of my masters program.

Though I shall miss being with everyone, I really need to do this work. I have been at it for so long, working in schools and other venues with kids, now is the time to get the paperwork in order so that I can take my career to the next level.

Wish me luck folks. I will be calling on many of you from time to time for advise and suggestions. It really does take a village to raise a child and to raise adults up to new heights, as well.

    Shalom...Daveed

God who is going? I think about it everyday. I feel like jumping off the CN Tower. I really wonder if I could pull it off someway - somehow.

Daveed, you and I have the same types of Dilema. I'm going to University to study more of what I teach and that has set me back financially as well as my job that is understaffed.

If by some fluke of the Universe a possibility opens up I will come. Someway - somehow.

Hi, my name is Susan and I live in Warwick NY. I started dancing a year ago. I dance with three different troupes at times, one is strictly for charity! I dance for pleasure and fun. This will be my first DID, Im so excited to meet people, dance, go to the workshops, hang out and and make new friends. I read Jeneeda's article and decided to sign up in January. I havnt been to the Blue Ridge Mountain Area in Virginia since 1981 when I camped there. I live in a rural area, surrounded by farms, mountains and horses, but Im sure its nothing compared to Patrick County. Im driving from NY, and Im looking foward to the trip. I rented a place in Stuart, but will spend most of my time at the farm! I read about "the mud" and " the "bugs" " and I will search for what I once read on what to bring......Bye for now!. Its all most here! Tips, Tips, Tips, Bring them On! I need a vacation! Lokking foward to meeting you all!

Looking forward to meeting you, Susan. It's a great event and I'm sure you'll love it! My sister is coming up from Athens, GA for her first DID, and I'm so happy that my dance-sister Alimah will be joining us... I'm ready to pack right now.

          Rajni,

If your sister wants to carpool with some people me and a few of the girls from my troupe are driving up from Athens.

Thanks Christy-- I'll let her know! I think you two have met once in Athens-- she's in Commerce. I know I told her about you after last DID cause I'm encouraging her to take some lessons (she took a few years ago when we both lived in Tallahassee) . Her hubby is coming too, as far as I know, so maybe they'd want to caravan behind you vs. riding with.

              Hey Christy--

Talked to my sis-- she never checks Tribe! Anyhoo, she says they will probably drive up on their own as they have a recently injured kitty that may change their schedule if she has to go back to the vet or be boarded.

Seems to be the week for sick animals-- we thought one of our Chihuahuas was choking, but found out at the vet that he had bitten his own tongue so badly that he just wouldn't swallow. Thank goodness that was a cheap vet visit-- only $81 -- as our DID budget is already fixed. But now we have to add in pet boarding fees for him, since he is on medication and a special soft diet, and would be a bit too much for my parents to handle with watching our other dogs plus their 3.

After counting the minutes to DID all year, I'm heartbroken to say that I'm going to have to miss this year due to family obligations. I will play my tar on a mountain top during the June 2 hafla and send my energy and wishes for the best DID ever to all of you gentle citizens! See you next year!

Wow. So many folks not making it.... I feel obligated to try. Still up in the air, waiting to see how bad my current contractors screw me over before I can make a solid decision.

So... Maybe, for now, and trying.

Do you think its too late to mail my registration fees, should I just bring them with me?? I sent the email a while back, but just hadn't sent the money. I've gotten no confirmation as yet... what should I do??

Saahira, I would call Sheque at the farm and let him know, or just email him again and ask. Don't think he's ever around on Tribe on account of being so busy! Have you received any of the email updates from Sheque about the DID schedule? We received an updated schedule of workshops a couple of days ago (yay, Kazuki's teaching dumbek!!), so if you're getting the updates he *probably* is aware that you'll be there, but then again better not to have any surprises. My friend Alimah called to make sure there were spaces left, and that was about two weeks ago-- I think it's filling up, which of course is a good thing. It may be easier just to bring the registration money at this point-- Mark and I ended up doing that last year and I think other folks have done that as well.

Saahira, just bring the money with you. I've done that in the past. I would call and check if possible beforehand, but most likely, if you sent the registration paperwork he's expecting you to show. Just my gut instinct.

Thanks for the goat love, Donovan. : (
Hopefully next year I'll be able to go!
I'll miss everyone. This week feels strange, not getting geared up to go and everything. *sigh*

It's only 51 weeks till DID 2008.I already cannot wait!
And Sheque said it would really help them out, if we could both keep it 'in the family' ie not get too commercial, and still boost the paying population for next year.
