Re: to the citizens of Darbukastan
Mon, June 8, 2009 - 11:03 AMDeep and profound love and thanks
to all liberated, illuminated and enlightened citizens
of our free and independent Republic of Darbukastan,
especially to those selfless and heroic partisan comrades
who paved the roads
and petted the goats,
taught the classes,
and entertained the masses
all night long
with dance and song,
kept the power
and the water
and the hot coffee flowing
and the Radio Free Darbukastan
sound system going,
to those who maintained order
and protected our borders
and manned the dam
as the summer typhoon
devoured the moon
and the roads became rivers
and Spirithaven Lake
burst her muddy banks ...
Let us never forget
the heroes of the bloodless
Food Riot of 2009
and the feast of chick peas and black beans that ensued ...
And, as always,
may the light of one million suns
shine on our first dynastic family,
Sheque and Kay and all that share their royal blood!
How I long to once again walk that native soil ...
or shall I say, that native mud?

Thanks to everyone for another great event! It is amazing how every year you think that last year can't be topped but it always is. I always feel lost when the event is over and today has been a tough day for me. Thank you all for making such a thing possible and I can't wait until it happens again!
With great love,
Chris

Re: to the citizens of Darbukastan
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 8:37 AMVIVA DARBUKASTAN indeed!
It was our first time to Spirithaven and my wife and I were made to feel at home immediately. The energy was great, the music and drumming was awesome, and the concentration of talent and skill was unbelievable. And the people... the PEOPLE! I never once got a clique-y vibe from anybody, everyone was generous and kind - there were just all around "good people" to be found everywhere.
My wife and I just want to say mega-thanks to Sheque and Kay and everyone else who helped to put on such a great event and make such an awesome happening happen! I saw so much pitching in and helping out that I felt sort of like a bum... I guess there's always next year, eh? :D
Oh, and Geoff's prose is as captivating and on-point as ever! (BTW, I'm still waiting for the rest of the your KID epic to be published at some point... hahaha!)
Be well,
Rune
